A complete redesign of IZ, both in the front end and in the underlying backend processes and subscriber management.
The IZ website had been in existence since 2001 and had accumulated over 13,000 articles from around 900 different authors. In addition, it was increasingly attacked by Islamophobic hackers and DDoS‘ed.
As the site had also grown historically for 20 years, there was a lot of technical baggage and also SEO issues that needed to be addressed.
I developed a customised design from scratch based on Underscores. In addition to the newspaper articles, the website also includes a WooCommerce shop with books and renewing print and online subscription products, a classifieds marketplace, custom post types for the print edition issues and an advertisement module.
It took me 6 months full-time to complete the entire new development, redesign and address the problems mentioned above.
