imedo Frontend Development

Handcoded HTML, CSS, jQuery, Ruby on Rails Backend
Project Date: 23/03/2009

My second station in Berlin after studiVZ was imedo, a smaller health platform with nationwide doctor ratings from patients. It was the first time I did the frontend for a Ruby-on-Rails backend, but it also introduced me to SASS, which I still use today. That’s also where I first used the faux absolute positioning technique, shortly after its release

I worked there partly as a permanent employee and partly as a freelancer. As a permanent employee I took care of the day-to-day business (feature development), as a freelancer I made the platform more accessible. We even entered the platform in the BIENE Awards (which no longer exist), where an established jury awards prizes for the best accessible websites every year. We were immediately nominated in the category “Complex websites with user-generated content” and ended up in 4th place.
