A website with how-tos on IT security, open source software and web publishing.
I had previously published guides that contained detailed step-by-step explanations with appropriately labelled screenshots. So-called foolproof how-tos, which were also well received by less experienced users. Such instructions were not exactly the norm on the Internet at the time, as they were mostly written by nerds.
I collected all these how-tos under a new domain ‘uckanleitungen’ – a play on words with my name and the German word for instructions (Uckan + Anleitungen) – and added a few more. Especially on topics that are difficult for inexperienced users, such as PGP email, encrypted containers or malware/rootkit detection.
This domain generated good traffic, so I was later able to sell it and its content to a company.
